Three days in a cupboard

_MG_4390bweb Well, the NFA tour is underway and our first "mission" was to spend 3 days in a large wooden box, aka a Bear Hide. It's about 3 meters long by 1.5m wide and a similar height. There's no running water, electricity or "mod cons" so you have to share it with someone who you know really, really well!

You can't stand up (unless you're really short) and shouldn't venture outside, so the three nights confinement were spent sitting at the observation slits or lying down. We did venture outside once or twice to stretch and I came out resembling an elderly Quasimodo. Oh, and it reached 30c inside.

That's the downside. The upside is that that it is beautiful. No sounds other than nature. No traffic, voices, or electronics. Unfortunately there were no bears either, so we'll try again later on! There were Jays, Ravens, Seagulls, and Cranes - a pair of which brought their chick up to feed. There were mosses, lichens, blueberries. Nature in all its glory with just us looking at it.

Good to hear that your off to a good start.
On occasions we experience a power cut and even if the boys are at school and no playstation/ T.V. can be heard that silence that engulfs you is just so apparent, can't get enough of it so I think it should be very peaceful in your hide.

looking fwd to seeing more of your photo's and hearing about your adventures.

Hello Grahame

Glad the NFA Tour is off to a good start, although a pity no bears turned up. Despite the privitations, it sounds wonderful. Nice image of the Crane and its chick :)

Enjoy, and stay safe.

Regards
David
